Coming to ya from GEORGIA!

Hello readers!!!!

This is my first post since hitting the trail. I have no idea where to begin. today is day 7 of hiking for us. We've hiked 77 miles so far. We're both feeling pretty good, bodies still breaking in for this style of life. Every morning my legs are feeling a little bit stronger.

Ash (Ducky) is posting pics as we speak, so I'll let those speak for themselves. The views here are BEAUTIFUL. and there are so many of them. The weather has been pretty good except one rainy day. The next morning we decided to RUN, and I mean RUN, down Blood Mountain (4000 ft elev.). That was quite a rush.

The other hikers on the trail are rad, we've been playing tag with a number of really cool people out here. People from all walks of life, married couples, Vietnam vets, and kids taking time off from college.

We haven't seen much in the way of wildlife, just some birds and bugs. One day after passing through Neel's Gap we did accidentally sneak up on a pair of nasty wild boar. I think we simultaneously scared the shit out of each other because we froze and they bolted off, huffing and puffing.

I'm updating our Adventure map right now, so if you click Our Trip So Far on the top of the page, you can see the trail we've hiked from the start.

I don't know what else to say, I'm really enjoying this, it's nice to be living out of a bag again, it's nice to be hiking with an amazing partner, and it's nice to be outside for days at a time, eating in the sun on top of a mountain and sleeping under the stars in the forest. Again, we would like to invite anyone who has time to come join us at some point on our journey, we would love to see some familiar faces.

Thanks for reading,
Cole Bear (Sherpa)

  4. Are ducky and Sherpa you guys trail names? I like em, especially ducky! Good one ash! I have a letter and a flat and light birthday gift for Cole coming in the mail as of this coming Monday. It was quite a creative challenge to come up with something that fit your limitations, flat and light, but I must say I think I was quite sucessful. Let me know what you think. Love you both! Chel.

My Trail Name has been changed to Crazy Goose (too many Sherpa's on the trail.) So now we are Ducky and Grazy Goose. Ash is about to put pics up in a second, so I'll let her tell the stories. Peace out.
